Lakers News: Darvin Ham Shares Singular Offensive Focus for Anthony Davis This Season

This would really open things up for LA.

For the Los Angeles Lakers to go as far as they'd like this year, they are going to need star Anthony Davis to be his best self all year. Davis is the key to this team, and LA will be counting on him heavily this year.

At times, he looks like the best player in the game, but sometimes he also lacks aggression and seems passive. This has hurt Davis over the years, and they can't have any of that this season.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham knows all about how good the team is when Davis is knocking down his shots. So, he has given Davis a directive to follow each game this season.

“I’ve requested to see six 3-point attempts a game”

Per Darvin Ham

If Davis can hit even two or three of his three-point shot attempts a game, LA will be in great shape. Davis becoming a threat outside the painted area opens up so much for this Lakers offense, and it would give them what they had back in 2020. If he makes the defense pull away from the painted area, it creates more space for everyone on the floor.

When Davis was a consistent threat from deep, it made LA that much better. Not only could he step out and knock down the three, but also it opened up driving lanes for him to attack the basket as well.

When Davis is aggressive, the Lakers are at their best. He is the engine that makes this team go, and they are going to need him each and every night to play up to par.

This is the season where Davis needs to fully take the regions from James as the best player on the Lakers, and make sure he is consistent with it. Of course, there will be some times that James goes off, but Davis should at least be on pace with him every night.

This should be something to watch for going forward, and if Davis can become a strong shooter, LA could reach their goal of winning another title.
