Lakers News: Where 2 LA Stars Land On List Of Best Possible 2024 Free Agents

In this story:
Your Los Angeles Lakers have a ton of exciting names on their roster heading into the 2023-2024 season. Obviously, LeBron James and Anthony Davis continue to headline their squad but Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura will both look to take another step as LA's younger stars and D'Angelo Russell and Jarred Vanderbilt have some money on the line based on their individual performances.
However, even though Davis is expected to sign a hefty three-year extension soon, he is still set to have a player option for next summer as of now and if he declines, he'll hit free agency. There are a number of big names on the market heading into that timeline but as of now, Bleacher Report lists AD as the top free agent should he go in that direction.
"During the Los Angeles Lakers' surprise run to the Western Conference Finals, Davis looked like the most dominant defender in the world. He also averaged 22.6 points, 14.1 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. In those 16 games, the Lakers were
plus-4.2
points per 100 possessions with AD on the floor and minus-3.9 without him. Combining the fact that he'll be 31 next summer with his injury history—he's averaged only 44.0 appearances per season over the last three years—could give some teams pause. However, that playoff run was a vivid reminder of his upside. Davis can still completely change a game with his defense while operating as a No. 2 (or 1B) on the other end."

It's wild to think that just because of injuries, a lot of people forget the value that Davis brings to the court when he's locked in. There are very few players that can impact the game on both ends the way he does and if he does hit the market, he'll be a hot target.
And we all know that The King has a player option on his hands as well after this year and as he only grows older and Bronny James' own basketball career continues, he could follow wherever he ends up.
Therefore, just behind Davis and Kawhi Leonard, Bleacher Report has James as the third best 2024 free agent.
"During his age-38 season in 2022-23, LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.2 threes per game in the regular season and helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the Western Conference Finals. It's conceivable that his 2023-24 campaign could come with enough injuries or observable decline to tank his value, but we've been expecting that for years. It still hasn't happened.LeBron is still one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NBA. His experience is unparalleled. If he declines his $51.4 million player option for 2024-25 and enters free agency next summer, he'll have plenty of highly motivated suitors."
