The Los Angeles Lakers always seem to be at the forefront when it comes to possibly acquiring some of the top stars in the league.

The Lakers always appear to be in a position to trade or acquire stars via free agency, and that was not different a few months ago when they acquired the biggest stars of them all in Luka Doncic. That trade sent shockwaves throughout the entire sports world.

Now, Doncic is locked in for at least the next three years, and the Lakers hope he is locked in until he decides to call it quits. The goal for the Lakers now is to build the best possible roster to surround Doncic to help him get LA over the top.

LA always seems to be in line to make a massive trade, and NBA insiders on ESPN predict the Lakers to be a team to make a big move before the deadline.

The Golden State Warriors received the most votes with seven, while the Lakers received the second-most with five.

"The Lakers, who are transitioning into the Luka Doncic era, have maintained a few first-round sweeteners that can be used to get a deal done as LeBron James' expiring contract looms. For the Cavaliers' situation, disappointment and desperation can breed movement. If they fear their high-value core four won't get it done in the playoffs again, they may decide to flip one and change up the mix."

The Lakers acquired three key players this offseason who they believe can help them this season. However, how things transpire at the start of the season will tell us a lot about their direction moving forward.

LA possesses a top duo in the league in Doncic and LeBron James, so it's safe to say that they believe they can perform for a title this season.

If the Lakers prove to be in the hunt for the title, president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka will do what they can to add to their roster to better complement Doncic and James.

The Lakers have arguably two top-ten players on their team. If they can stay healthy throughout the course of the grueling 82-game season, then maybe LA could surprise some people this upcoming season.
