Lakers News: Pundit Lists Los Angeles Among Top 5 Teams In Preseason Rankings

LA is ready for a great season!
In this story:

As we get ready to start the new NBA season, your Los Angeles Lakers come in with a great shot to win the NBA title. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, LA boasts one of the best rosters across the league.

NBA analyst Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer put together his preseason rankings of all the NBA teams, and the Lakers landed in the top five to start the new year.

“But when healthy, the Lakers are serious Finals threats. They boast a deep and diverse roster featuring additional ball handlers like Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell, as well as new acquisition Gabe Vincent. Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt had great stretches last season, and now they’re joined by Taurean Prince, while upside talents like Max Christie, Cam Reddish, and Christian Wood add another layer of depth.”

Per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer

The key point for the Lakers this season is health. It is the only thing that matters; without it, they don’t stand a chance. While you can say that about any team in the league, the Lakers have dealt with numerous injuries the past few seasons, so the hope is that they are past that.

LA showed last season what they could do when James and Davis are healthy and on the court, and that was with a hobbled James at best. This will be something to watch all year long, and if they can remain on the floor, LA will be a tough team to deal with.

They have great depth that should allow them much-needed flexibility through the season. It will give them the ability to match up against any team in the league and should help take the load off the star players.

"The onus will be on head coach Darvin Ham to optimize this wealth of talent through effective lineup configurations throughout the season."

Per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer

LA has all the talent to win the title this season, but it won't be easy. They will need to come prepared for every game, and if they do that, banner 18 could be theirs.
