Lakers News: Remnant From LeBron James' Record-Breaking Scoring Night Could Earn Big Bucks
In life, one thing that pretty much everyone at least tries to is make a little extra money on the side. From a kid doing yard work around their neighborhood to an adult with a side job, a lot of people attempt to do what they can to try to get some extra cash.
For a fan that attended one of the most historic games in NBA history, it's not a question of if they can make some extra dollars. They will be.
And it'll be quite a lot more than your extra 40 bucks.
One mystery fan was lucky enough to attend the Thunder vs. Lakers game at Crypto.com Arena on February 7, more commonly known as the game where Lakers superstar and future Hall of Famer LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar atop the NBA's all-time scoring list.
Jabaar held the NBA career scoring record for 39 years before James bested him, and it could be quite a while before the new mark is ever broken -- if it ever is.
The fan is selling his ticket stub from that historic game, and that very valuable artifact could turn into quite the return on investment, per TMZ Sports.
“The $92 stub that was used by a fan to watch James pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at Crypto.com Arena back on Feb. 7 just hit the block this week…and Heritage Auctions experts say it could ultimately sell for over $5,000," TMZ writes.
To quantify that for you, if the fan's stub actually ends up selling for $5,000, that'd be roughly a 5,300 percent return on investment.
That sounds like pretty good business there and one person is due to cash in in relatively short order.
We'll see what the piece of history winds up going for at auction, but one thing is for sure.
They'll make a lot more extra cash than a usual side gig.
