Lakers News: Why Insider Ranks This League Pass Matchup Among Year's Best

In this story:
As the new NBA season gets ready to get going soon, there are plenty of really fun matchups that will be coming down the pipeline. We should be in for a really good season, headed by your Los Angeles Lakers.
One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the new NBA season is the battle of LA. The Lakers and Clippers both have big star power, and they will once again be contenders in the Western Conference.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the Lakers, while Kawhi Leonard and Paul George continue to miss playoff games the Clippers. The star duos represent two of the best tandems across the entire league, and it makes for great basketball in the city.
Brian Martin of NBA.com listed the two teams as one of the can't-miss games of the NBA season.
“The Clippers have always played the little brother role to the Lakers in Los Angeles since arriving from San Diego in the mid-80s during the Lakers’ Showtime Era. But in recent years, the Clippers have finally found success against the Lakers as they enter this season having won 11 straight games in the intra-city rivalry. The last Lakers win over the Clippers came in the bubble during the 2020 season restart.”
Per Brian Martin of NBA.com
The battle of LA has been owned by the Clippers of late, but the Lakers have a chance to redeem themselves this season. They have the roster to compete with the Clippers, and it should be another good matchup between the teams.
The Clippers want to shed the little brother feeling and get out from under the shadow of the Lakers. But it’s much easier said than done. While the Clippers have found success against the Lakers recently, the Lakers still own the city. That isn’t going to change, even with the Clippers victories, because of the hold that the purple and gold have over Los Angeles.
