Lakers News: Why Insiders Like LA’s Chances Vs Rest Of West

LA is in line for a great season!

After a run to the Western Conference Finals a year ago, the Lakers decided it was important to prioritize continuity this offseason. They went against their normal route of star-chasing, and it was a sight for sore eyes.

LA brought back most of their core from last season, and they upgraded around the edges as well. They believe that they have a team in place to compete for the NBA title and feel that they have some unfinished business to attend to this season.

Recently, The Ringer's Bill Simmons gave some thoughts on the Lakers during his podcast, and he feels that they have a great chance to do some damage this year.

“And there is a physicality that they still have from last year that is gonna be a real problem for a lot of these teams. Like when they play Phoenix, if they’re against Phoenix in a playoff series that’s going to be a fascinating matchup where one they have a lot of offense, and the Lakers are just going to be able to overpower them.”

Simmons, a known Boston Celtics fan, is very high on this Lakers squad after what they did last season, and over the offseason. They built their roster with the intent to compete against teams like the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets, and they will have a physicality advantage.

Their defensive abilities should be able to help them in a potential series, and they have enough offense to get them by. The team added in multiple players who shoot well from distance, and that should open things up for others on the floor.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James still lead the way, and if they can stay healthy, the sky is the limit for this team. Health is important to every team, but for the Lakers, they have shown just how good they can be when they have their guys on the floor.

This season has all the feelings of a special one for the purple and gold. With the new year starting next week, we should be in for a fun ride!
