Lakers News: Anthony Edwards, Austin Reaves Developing Chemistry On And Off The Court

In this story:

Team USA was able to take home their first official FIBA World Cup victory this summer on Saturday as they took down New Zealand with a final score of 99-72. Even though the US initially struggled to get their offense going in the first few minutes, transition buckets and excellent defense from Paolo Banchero and Jaren Jackson Jr. allowed them to take off and start off the World Cup in the best way.

They originally won five exhibition games over the past few weeks but those did not count to their official record in this tournament. It also looks like fans of the Los Angeles Lakers have some competition on their hands when it comes to cheering on Austin Reaves this coming season.

Those in attendance got extra loud when Reaves' name was called pre-game and he fed off of the energy as he come off the bench with another huge performance dropping 12 points, six assists and three rebounds in just 22 minutes of playing time.

Reaves is playing alongside other ball-dominant rising stars such as Anthony Edwards and Jalen Brunson but he is fitting in perfectly. Edwards, who many are considering the best player on this Team USA roster, showed the 25-year-old guard plenty of love as they headed back to the locker room after their win.

Lakers fans will definitely remember the first round of the 2023 playoffs where Reaves proclaimed himself as 'Him' after a clutch game one performance. Edwards has become notorious in the media for his comedic personality and he put that on full display in the tunnel.

The two are also developing some excellent chemistry on the court and on one play in particular, Reaves was able to snatch a steal on one end and fire off a pass to Edwards on the other for an easy, fast break layup.

Expect to see plenty more of this duo when Team USA hits the floor again on Monday against Greece!
