Lakers News: Darvin Ham Confident Anthony Davis On Cusp Of "Big, Big Year"

In this story:
Your Los Angeles Lakers season tips off in just a couple of days, and with this now being year 21 for 38-year-old All-Star LA small forward LeBron James, the Lakers' title window is closing.
With the league having all-time high parity levels and the Western Conference being wide open, this is a prime opportunity for the Lakers to truly capitalize on a deep, talented, and experienced team.
All this said, in order to make the most of the season, LA must stay healthy, productive, and consistent.
One of the bigger storylines last season was Anthony Davis' offensive inconsistency. It seemed as though during the playoffs, AD would have games where he'd put up 30 effortlessly, and then games where he'd be invisible.
Ahead of this season, however, it looks as if the confidence in him to bounce back and be more consistent is at an all-time high, per Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times, citing comments from Darvin Ham.
"I've been saying it since the summertime: I feel like he's going to have a big, big year,” Ham said. “Just seeing the way he was attacking his body. To see the type of work he was putting in in the gym. And, again, losing together brings you closer... He had a tough [conference finals] series against Denver but it doesn't represent who he is as a basketball player. I knew that type of thing, for a guy like him and the way he's programmed since I've been around him, that's more fuel for the fire."
AD staying on the court and being consistent while out there can elevate the Lakers to title favorites, akin to the 2020 season. As LeBron continues to age, his offensive responsibility cannot be as high as it's been in years past, instead putting that onus on AD, requiring that he can return to his consistent, All-NBA level of play.
Luckily, Coach Ham has tremendous faith in AD, and based on his comments, fans should too.
