One of the biggest pieces to the Lakers offseason was for them to retain forward Rui Hachimura. The team acquired him at the trade deadline last season in exchange for guard Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks. With the amount of draft capital that the Lakers sent away for Hachimura, it was clear that he was going to be a priority.

Hachimura and the Lakers agreed to a new three-year extension to keep him in LA for the next few years. He played a critical role in helping them reach the Western Conference Finals last season and quickly become a fan favorite. His ability to not only score the ball but take on defending big men on the opposing teams helped LA in the postseason.

When the lights shined brightest, Hachimura raised his game. He averaged 12.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, but it was his shooting that set things apart for him. His three-point average jumped up to 48.7 percent and he became a snipper from long-range.

Compared to his regular season numbers of 9.6 points and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting just 29.6 percent from deep. He become a different player for the Lakers in the playoffs and it helped result in a new $51 million contract.

As the offseason goes on, Hachimura is continuing to work on his preparation for the new season. This includes different training regimens, and he recently posted some photos of himself working out. It got Laker fans excited about what he can bring to the table this coming year.

Hachimura should enter the 2023 season feeling more comfortable and ready to go. He understands what the ultimate goal for the team is and he has a few months of playing as a Laker under his belt. It’s go-to for LA and Hachimura will be a major part of the overall success this season.
