For as long as we can remember, it seems like sports and music have always gone hand-in-hand. Whether it be the rhythm and beats mimicking the techniques in which athletes move their bodies, the environment in certain songs set when getting ready to perform, or just the discipline one must have in order to succeed in both fields, it has always been the case. When specifically talking about the 2000's, the hip hop genre has been closely associated with basketball.

Many point to former Philadelphia 76er Allen Iverson as the one who pioneered this movement with his fashion statements and others watch how players such as Damian Lillard and Longo Ball actually release their own tracks. However, one name seems to hold a significant amount of weight in both communities and that is LA's very own Kobe Bryant.

Hip hop artist Shaiva recently joined Brandon Robinson on 'Scoop B Talks' to discuss the Black Mamba's influence.

"Kobe definitely has an impact on my life and he always will," said Shaiva. "Just, you know, his mindset with life. He was very intellectual and multicultural with different ways so he was a good role model, I would say on the court."

Bryant's work ethic and drive to be the best at what he loved was matched by few others and is a mentality that so many athletes try to carry today. To see it growing in the hip hop community as well is pretty remarkable.

The longtime Los Angeles Lakers star shooting guard has also been named dropped in various songs released by a number of hip hop artists. Despite other younger players being fan favorites, Bryant still gets shouted out all the time.

Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert dedicated an entire song by the name of 'Bean (Kobe)' to the late legend.

Lil Uzi Vert pays homage to Bryant for his skill on the court and consistent, great performances. This track was teased by him for years before he finally released it in early 2020.

Back in 2009, New Orleans rapper also was inspired by Bryant during an incredible season and dropped a song titled 'Kobe Bryant.' The two were friends in real life as well.

These are just two of the many songs in which hip artists have saved some lines in a track to shoutout one of their favorite players ever and that number is likely to continue growing.
