Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James addressed the monumental trade which sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for star guard Luka Doncic on Sunday.

The news of the Lakers, Mavericks transaction broke late Saturday night, and James reportedly found out his teammate was being trade while he was out at dinner with his family.

On Sunday afternoon, James shared a sweet message to Davis on social media.

"Love you my dog!! Go crazy over there!" James wrote on Instagram.

The Lakers made one of the most daring moves in franchise history Saturday night. Since the Lakers snagged Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the Milwaukee Bucks five decades ago, no trade had been as shocking or seismic as the deal that transpired in the dead of night.

The announcement is still being processed by sports fans, and James isn't the only person from the L.A. organization that has publicly spoken about the trade.

“We are overwhelmingly thankful for AD’s six seasons with the Lakers, where he led our franchise to a championship and cemented himself as a perennial NBA All-Star,” Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said in a statement. “We are proud of Max Christie’s development as a Laker as he has grown into an impact 3-and-D player and we are appreciative of the work Jalen Hood-Schifino has put in to show professionalism at every level.

“Sports are about transformative moments. We are inspired by these moments Lakers fans know, expect and love with a franchise that continually ushers in new eras of greatness.”

While James and Davis were always a dynamic duo and perfectly fit the role of Hollywood's best and brightest, there was a sense the pair would never again achieve greatness like the 2020 shortened season.

Davis' defensive prowess will do wonders in Dallas. As for Doncic, the scoring star is poised to be the next face of the franchise.

“Luka is a one-of-a-kind, young global superstar who will lead this franchise for years to come,” Pelinka said in the statement. “His killer instincts and commitment to winning championships will be a driving force for the team. We will be relentless in building a roster around the oncourt vision Coach Redick has for this basketball team and there is an unwavering commitment to that work to serve our loyal and dedicated fans. We are grateful for today and look forward to what’s next.”
