It's been quite the summer for the Los Angeles Lakers and superstar forward LeBron James.

James has been in the midst of a ton of trade buzz throughout the summer; however, all signs point to the 40-year-old superstar sticking around Los Angeles for at least the upcoming season.

James is never one who is shy to express how he feels, although he does prefer to do it in a passive-aggressive way. It's clear that the Lakers are pivoting away from James as they look to build the best roster possible to surround their new and younger superstar Luka Doncic.

James was once at the forefront of the Lakers, and alongside him was his running mate, Anthony Davis. The Lakers shipped out Davis in a stunner of a trade in early February that sent Doncic from Dallas to LA.

After five-plus seasons, Davis and James are no longer teammates, but that doesn't mean they aren't close any more, far from it.

On Tuesday, James and Davis posted the same message on their personal Instagram stories, sending the internet into a frenzy.

The photo reads, " Becoming the best version of yourself comes with a lot of goodbyes."

It's unclear what this means, but it may not be a coincidence that they posted it on the same time at around the same time.

James and Davis were among the best duos during their time in Los Angeles. The two helped guide the Lakers back to the promised land in their first season together in 2020, helping bring the franchise their 17th title.

Davis' time in LA was an unforgettable one. While it was filled with a ton of highs and lows, it was certainly one to remember. In five-plus seasons, Davis averaged 24.8 points per game, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals in 213 games and 34.4 minutes of action.

Davis has been a four-time All-Star, earned two All-NBA selections, made the All-Defense team twice, and finished among the top five in Defensive Player of the Year voting on two occasions.

The 32-year-old recorded a 186-126 record as a Laker.

There have been rumors that the Mavericks are one of the few teams that could make a run at James. The 21-time All-Star never makes a move without careful thought. This message might hint at something worth watching in the future.
