In this story:

It feels like an eternity ago at this point but there was a period in which Anthony Davis was not rocking purple and gold. He has already done so much for the Los Angeles Lakers' organization and even though opposing fanbases like to label him as injury-prone, a championship, multiple All-Star appearances and an incredible 2023 postseason run only capture some of the amazing work he's done in LA.

But yes, AD started his career with the New Orleans Pelicans (they were actually the Hornets at the time!) and that was where he first developed into one of the best big men in the league. His early campaigns with them saw him mainly thrive on the defensive side of things as he led the league in blocks a couple of times and looked to be the cornerstone for a small-market franchise.

Their front office attempted some trades to get him help but none did the job and just before the 2018-2019 season when LeBron James signed with the Lakers, rumors began swirling that Davis could potentially want out of New Orleans and had his eyes on LA. The next months became a mix of tampering accusations, failed deals between the two, both franchises missing the playoffs and finally once summer rolled around, LA parted ways with majority of their young core to welcome Davis in.

However, before the deal went down, one of the most popular voiceover content creators in the spots industry (Savvy Amusing) put together a viral skit that teased the Lakers landing not just Anthony Davis but also Kawhi Leonard.

He recently joined Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson for an exclusive interview where he detailed the journey behind it.

"I created this parody," said Savvy Amusing. "And I was like let me spoof this and so I was singing on the instrumental... 'AD's on the way, Kawhi's on the way, Yeah baby.' It was heavily revolved around AD so it caught in the sports world."

Even though we couldn't get Kawhi Leonard as well, we are more than happy with AD!
