In this story:

Your Los Angeles Lakers are always in trade rumors with the best the NBA has to offer. Los Angeles is a prime destination for many, and even though some rumors are pure smoke, most are not.

The purple and gold are always in need of improvement, and this season is no different. This season, the Lakers seem to be linked with the Chicago Bulls in a potential trade with their All-Star shooting guard Zach LaVine.

However, The Athletic's Jovan Buha believes LA is interested in two other Bulls guards, All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan and former Laker Alex Caruso. Buha detailed the potential assets in a new conversation with Jason Timpf of Hoops Tonight, via The Volume Sports:

LaVine and the Lakers have been a topic this early part of the season; however, the addition of Caruso and DeRozan may be more realistic.

The two guards are in more favorable contracts for the purple and gold. DeMar is on an expiring deal, while Caruso has a partial guarantee for next season.

These two have also been linked to Los Angeles for some time now. It was reported that the Lakers sought to have DeMar team up with Anthony Davis and LeBron James before the trade for Russell Westbrook went down. The 34-year-old is a native of Los Angeles and is among the best guards this league has seen in the past decade.

And as for Caruso, there's no doubt he is the one who got away. The 29-year-old is beloved in Los Angeles to this day. Fans adore him, and we were distraught when he left for Chicago following the 2020-2021 season. I'm sure many fans wouldn't hesitate at the opportunity to bring him back, but what will it cost?

We don't have the answer to that question at the moment. Only time will tell, and we'll see if the Bulls will shop if not two, but all three guys.

The interest is clearly there; the Lakers are not done making moves, and we'll see how aggressive they'll become when the time comes.
