Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Ridiculed Childhood Competition With 1 Small Realization

In this story:

Los Angeles Lakers' legend Kobe Bryant dedicated himself to the game of basketball and always entered every offseason with a plan in place to add something to his game. We've all heard the stories of players showing up to training facilities early for workouts and finding out that the Black Mamba had already been there for hours drenched in sweat.

This a mindset that Bryant instilled in himself from a young age and one that he did his best to perfect as his career went on. He entered the NBA with a skinny frame and relied majority on his athleticism. However, by the time he became a veteran, he had mastered footwork at all spots of the floor and could draw fouls as well as scoring from all three levels.

And when I say that he started at a young age, he was already taking notes about his competition before anybody would even consider doing so. Bryant famously dropped 63 points in a game when he was middle school and he claimed that he was able to do so by realizing that none of his peers could dribble with their opposite hand.

"I scored my first 60-point game when I was eight," said Bryant. "It was something very simple that I figured out at eight-years-old was that other eight-year-olds couldn't dribble with their left hand and that's simple for me. When I was guarding the ball, I would let them have a couple dribbles with their right hand and then jump on their right hand and make them change over to their left and they would fumble the ball and I'd go lay it up."(Via LakeShowFamily)

Bryant was breaking down the game and making it simple for himself at a very young age. It definitely shows why the late, great legend continued this all throughout his time with the Lakers.
