In this story:

At 38 years and 10 months old, All-NBA Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is now the oldest player in the NBA, and yet, he can still score with the best of them. It speaks to the preparation that James has given to the game, and his accomplishments shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Each year, he breaks some record or defies more logic. And this season will be no different with it being his 21st season in the NBA. Only five other players have achieved that, none while still performing at this level. Already through his first two contests of 2023-24, James is averaging 21 points on .567/.222/.667 shooting splits, eight rebounds, seven assists (against a respectable 2.5 turnovers), 1.5 steals and one block.

“Last season, James tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with his 19th All-Star Game selection. This season, his 20th will finally place James by himself as the NBA record-holder.”

Per Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report

In all likelihood, James will captain one of the All-Star teams once again. It has almost become a yearly honor for him, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon as long as he is playing.

“James has been chosen as an All-Star every single season since 2004-05, his second in the NBA. Even if he misses some time or his stats are down a bit this year, it’s important to remember that fan votes count for 50 percent (along with 25 percent from players and 25 percent from media).”

Per Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report

Being with the Lakers also helps things for James, as the fan base will do all they can to help as well. LA has one of the largest fan bases in all the four major sports, so they will take care of their part.

Making a record-smashing 20th All-Star game seems unreal, but the reality is that James has been unreal over the course of his career. Entering the NBA with all the pressure that was placed on him, only to overcome it and still be going strong is unlike anything we have ever seen.

"Expect James to once again be voted in, joining a group that includes Michael Jordan, Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzki (commissioner selection) as the only players in history to make an All-Star Game at age 39 or older."

Per Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report

His longevity has been nothing short of amazing to watch, and fans should appreciate the greatness that is James. People may have strong opinions about him, but you can’t discount what he has done for the game of basketball.
