Mavs Ex Teammates Congratulate Dirk on HOF Glory

Dirk Nowitzki received a congratulations message from many of his notable former teammates ahead of his Hall of Fame induction.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Ahead of Dirk Nowitzki being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in part of the 2023 class, the Dallas Mavericks compiled a video compilation of his former teammates congratulating him. 

Here is a transcript of each person that had well wishes for Mavs legend: 

Michael Finley - "Congratulations, Dirk, on being inducted into the 2023 Hall of Fame. It's definitely been a hall of fame ride. S well deserved honor brother, I'm just proud of you to see where you've come from to how you ended it. I'm proud of you. I'm proud of your family and I'm thankful to call you a brother."

Jason Kidd - "Incredible career, well deserved. Everything that you accomplished, you're a champion, and I'm honored just to call you a friend, but also a teammate."

Steve Nash - "41. Congrats on an unbelievable career and rightfully a first ball Hall of Famer. Just incredible. 21 years with the Mavs, the best Mav of all time. Championship, all the accolades, a million all-star games, A key to the city, a street, a Whataburger, a planet. I mean, where does it stop? Congrats on an incredible career and honor of being in the Hall of Fame."

Devin Harris - "What's up, Dirk? It's your friend and teammate, Devin Harris here. Really proud of you for the way you approached the game way. You revolutionized the game. You're so deserving of this honor. Can't wait to celebrate you. Congrats again."

J.J. Barea - "Dirk, just want to say say congrats. That's amazing. We all know you deserve it. Playing the pick and roll with you, winning a championship together and now watching you going into the Hall of Fame is special, man. So congrats, enjoy, and see you soon. 

Jason Terry - “Dirty! Class of 2023 Hoop Hall of Fame. It's an honor to be your teammates, your brother, your friend. Again, big brother. Congrats one of a kind, Dirk. Congratulations on the Hall of Fame. You truly one. The greats of all time, and it was great to see your journey."

Caron Butler - "Congratulations, Dirk, on the Hall of Fame. Just wanna say thank you. The story of basketball cannot be told without mentioning you. I appreciate you. I love you, 11 for life."

Shawn Marion - "Dirty, the rainbow assassin. Congratulations on going into this year's class. Man, what an honor. Privilege. Much respect. Much love. Respect."

Tim Hardaway Jr.  - "Just want to say congratulations. You know I'm making the hall. I want you. Enjoy the moment. It was an amazing accomplishment. Enjoy the moment, brother."

Maxi Kleber - "Congratulations. Dirk Nowitzki to the Hall of Fame. It represents your work ethic, dedication, your love to the game, and enjoy this moment."

Dwight Powell - "You've been a Hall of Famer in our eyes for a long. Long time you changed this city, the face of basketball in this city. Nobody deserves it more than you."

Tyson Chandler - "To my brother from another German mother. I just want to say congratulations. Your legacy, your career are second to none. Your hustle, your dedication to the game, I wish you all of the success. God bless you. God bless your family and all the love man." 

Mark Cuban - "Just wanted to say congratulations. I'm so proud of you. That hard work paid off. And to finish first and most importantly, you prove that you could do it on and off the court representing yourself, your family, the Mavs in the entire city of Dallas, in ways like nobody else ever has. Congratulations, you truly are a Hall of Fame."

Luka Doncic - "Hi, Dirk. I just want to say congratulations on the Hall of Fame. You deserve this and everything that happened to you. You're an icon to everybody." 

Brian Cardinal - "Dirk. Congratulations on the induction. There's a long list of things that you've done on the basketball court, but when I think of you and I think of the word change, I think of all the lives that you've changed, the lives in Dallas, the lives throughout Texas, and the lives around the world, through your generosity.

“It takes a special athlete to do the things that you've done on the court, but it takes a hall of fame human to be able to use the platform that basketball has provided. And to impact so many people along the way. Thanks for all that you do in the communities, and congrats again on your induction into the Hall of Fame."
