Watch the full highlights from the Mavs' victory over the Magic, including standout performances from superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

ORLANDO — The Dallas Mavericks improved their record to 6-1 to begin the 2023-24 season using a 117-102 victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday. The team completed a back-to-back with wins, with the first occurring against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Mavs trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half before using yet another second-half rallying effort to achieve a victory. Luka Doncic led the way with 29 points, three rebounds, and six assists. Kyrie Irving added 21 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists. Both players combined for Dallas' final 13 points and 23 points overall in the fourth quarter.

“I think we’ve said this before, that it does work. It takes time, and I think it’s just playing," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said. "Luka’s causing a problem getting the double team. Kai (Kyrie Irving) is benefiting from it. Grant’s (Williams) benefiting. D-Live (Dereck Lively II), D. Jones (Derrick Jones Jr.), everybody's benefiting from Luka. Still, also, Kai, being able to play the pick-and-roll with those two and then being able to get the mismatch and Luka being the quarterback to score it or being able to find the open guy.

"Again, in that second half, when you look at the turnovers in that first half, we had some careless turnovers. We knew if we could just take care of the ball we would get looks. But again, I think that third quarter we came out on both ends. And I think our defense set the tone for us on the offensive end tonight.”
