Mavs Free Agency: Should Dallas Sign Patrick Beverley?

In this story:
Entering free agency, the Dallas Mavericks hold several goals to improving their roster, which include re-signing Kyrie Irving, adding more depth, and upgrading both their defense and rebounding.
As far as upgrading Dallas' defense, there is one veteran option on the open market that would immediately bolster the Mavericks’ ability to guard on the perimeter. That move is signing Patrick Beverley, but it may take some time for Mavs fans to get behind it.
In 67 games this past season, Beverley averaged 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 27 minutes per game while shooting just under 34 percent from 3-point range.
Once Beverley got to Chicago, the Bulls held a record of 14-8 with the veteran guard on the floor, helping the team clinch a spot in the play-in tournament. In Chicago, Beverley had a defensive plus/minus of 2.2, his second-highest throughout his 11-year career.
Beverley completely reformed the locker room and defense in Chicago, bringing a sense of leadership and fire that the team was lacking all season long. That is something Beverley could certainly provide for the Mavericks.
Regarding Beverley's market, he stated on his podcast, The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, that he wants between $13-$15 million on his next deal being that 'his game hasn't dropped so I don’t think my number that I make this year should drop.'
Sadly, how Beverley views his value might not be how contending teams view his market, which would mean a team would need to sign Beverley with cap space more than just utilizing the Mid-Level Exception of $12.4.
If Beverley wants to be in a winning situation, taking near the veteran minimum of $2.72 million or a portion of a team's MLE seems to be the more logical route. Depending on how Dallas' pursuit of Irving and potential full use of the MLE prospects unfolds, Beverley could be an option for the Mavericks before the free agency dust settles.
