Nets to embrace most daunting stretch ahead with entire season at stake: “We have to have that hunger”
As they went back and forth in their momentum, the Brooklyn Nets will face their most pressuring stretch in which their entire season is hanging in balance.
Upon playing four straight games at the Barclays Center, the Nets will now come out of their turf to embark on a six-game road swing. The skid will offer a pair of back-to-back outings and a face-off with three competitive teams included in the early postseason picture. After that, they’ll briefly go home on March 19 against the New Orleans Pelicans, only to hit the travel again for a new four-game set away.
Stick towards winning
With a tough journey ahead of them, the Nets have no choice but to fight back and raise their A-game with their contention hopes on the line. Occupying the East’s 11th spot with a 25-37 — at 2.5 games away from the final Play-In spot — the ball club has no reason to take their foot off the gas pedal.
“We have to continue to focus in on our standards … and dig in even more for this road trip we have coming up because we’re still chasing,” interim coach Kevin Ollie said, via New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy. “We’re chasing the people in front of us. So we have to have that hunger.”
Bring the best out of everyone
The Nets concluded their four-game home stand with a positive 3-1 card. They were coming off a solid 112-107 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers last Tuesday. And disregarding their humiliating loss against the lottery-bound Memphis Grizzlies, they poured back-to-back dubs over the Atlanta Hawks squad that they are looking to drag for the last Play-in berth of the Conference.
Ollie is optimistic that his team will be able to come out strong and keep their fire burning with 20 games left in their regular season campaign.
“It’s my job to bring that masterpiece out of them every day,” Ollie said. “It’s their job to bring that masterpiece out of each other. So I see this, I believe in them. They’re going to continue to do what we need to do to win at all costs and pay for it. You pay for it by doubling down on the details. We have the recipe to win games, no matter who’s in the game.”
