Boston Celtics Star Shares Honest Thoughts on Nikola Jokic

There have been few instances in recent NBA history when a player was almost unanimously agreed upon as the best in the world. That is where Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is right now, with almost everyone agreeing that he is the best player in the NBA.

Prior to Denver's win over the Boston Celtics on Friday night, Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis said Jokic is the best player in basketball:

Jokic was incredible against Boston, finishing with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. Porzingis was tasked with guarding him for much of the night, and per the NBA's matchup data, Jokic went 7/12 from the field when defended by Porzingis. Al Horford defended Jokic the most out of anyone in this game, as the reigning Finals MVP went 5/6 from the field with three assists in the 28 possessions Horford defended him.

There is truly no defense for Jokic. If a team opts for single coverage, Jokic is a sure bucket in the post. If a team sends an extra defender, Jokic will almost always find the open man for an assist. This defense-bending skill is what separates Jokic from everyone else, as there is truly no way to slow him down.

The Nuggets have done well to surround Jokic with a lot of quality talent, which makes them a threat every year.
