It was announced by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype that the Portland Trail Blazers are expected to make Jerami Grant available for trade when he becomes trade eligible on January 15th.

"Jerami Grant, who becomes trade-eligible on January 15, is expected to become available before the trade deadline, according to rival league NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype following the Lillard trade," Scotto wrote.

Following the Damian Lillard trade, it's not surprising that Grant would be made available for trade as well. A piece that could help a lot of contenders, Grant has evolved into a high-level starting wing in the NBA. That said, the 28-year-old forward is owed $160M over the next five seasons, which could complicate potential deals.

In his career, Grant has spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Portland Trail Blazers. Grant got some limited playoff experience with the Thunder, but was a starter for the Nuggets during their improbable Western Conference Finals run in the 2020 bubble. Having started every game of his career since that run ended, Grant has averaged just over 20 PPG the last three seasons.

While Grant would be a great fit on a lot of good teams, acquiring him could be complicated given his contract. That said, perhaps Portland wouldn't be asking for a haul given their likely desire to move on from his deal.
