The Detroit Pistons fell to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, but the bigger story is the injury status of star guard Cade Cunningham. Per the Pistons, Cunningham left this game with a left knee strain, and did not return.

Health has been an issue for Cunningham to start his NBA career, as the 2021 first overall pick played just 12 games last season. There has been no further update from the Pistons on the severity of this injury, but it will certainly be something to follow.

The Pistons were of course not expected to beat the defending champion Nuggets, entering this game just 3-32 on the season, but having Cunningham for just 11 minutes certainly reduced any small chance Detroit would have had to make this game competitive.

In their win that snapped the historic historic losing streak, along with most of their games that have been competitive, Detroit has gotten incredible showings from Cunningham. His play in those games has been one of the very few bright spots in this otherwise dreadful season for the Pistons. Should Cunningham be forced to miss any time, it will be even more difficult for the Pistons to find wins.

This game against the Nuggets has now become much more about the health of Cunningham than anything else, as fans await a further update from the team.
