Former Pacers forward and Indiana native Glenn Robinson III attempting an NBA comeback

Robinson III played for the Pacers for three seasons

Former Indiana Pacers wing Glenn Robinson III is attempting to get back into the NBA.

GR3, as he is known, has been out of the league since the 2020-21 season. He last played for the Sacramento Kings. Both Fieldhouse Files and HoopsHype reported Robinson III's interest in being back in the league.

The 29-year old averaged 5.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game during his seven-year stint in the NBA. His defense was solid, and he knocked down 37.3% of his triples, so he became a quality role player for seven different franchises.

One of them was the Pacers, and Robinson III was born and raised in Indiana. He spent three seasons with the blue and gold, where he developed tremendously and participated in the dunk contest.

His father is two-time NBA All-Star Glenn Robinson.

"I feel like I have unfinished business," Robinson III told Mavericks SI of a return. "I've just been preparing myself and training... It's hard for guys to take two seasons off and come back, but I've been working on this for months now and grinding it out. I've been doing sand workouts, doing hill workouts, and getting work in on the court," he added.

So far, according to reports, GR3 has performed free agent workouts for the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors. The best stretch of the wing's career came when he was with Golden State for half of a season.

During his most recent pro season, Robinson III was teammates with Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton. He also has played with current Indiana center Myles Turner as well as guards Buddy Hield and Bruce Brown.

Robinson III was with the Pacers from 2015 through 2018. He averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for the franchise. An ankle injury stalled his effectiveness while with the team.

He turns 30 in early January of next year. The former second-round pick hopes to be back on the hardwood by then.
