Former Indiana Pacers forward Oshae Brissett will reportedly sign a contract with the Boston Celtics.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Brissett will sign a two-year deal with the Celtics. The second year will reportedly contain a player option.

The player option suggests that the average annual value of the deal is low, but it gives Brissett the chance to prove himself and then either get back on the free agent market or keep himself under contract for another year.

The 25-year-old forward joined the Pacers late in the 2020-21 season on a 10-day contract. He looked strong and received another 10-day deal before being inked to a three-year contract. Every step of the way, he proved his worth to the team.

In his first season with Indiana, the Syracuse product averaged 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Over the course of three seasons with the blue and gold, those numbers were 8.1 and 4.5, respectively.

He was always a solid defender and good athlete for the team. His efficiency dipped in his final season with the franchise, but he still made many solid plays for the blue and gold.

"I haven't really had any talks with my agent," Brissett said in April.

In the end, though, his chances of staying in Indiana were small. The Pacers don't have very many roster spots this summer, especially after the NBA Draft, and they didn't have many minutes to offer at the four after drafting Jarace Walker. That made Brissett an unlikely candidate to return.

He will give the Celtics needed depth at the backup power forward spot. They traded away Danilo Gallinari last week and could lose Grant Williams in free agency.

"Indiana has been home for the last three years. Without them, it would have been a lot tougher to get into the league," he shared a few months ago.

The Pacers have 14 players projected to be under contract as of now and have $14 million in cap space. The remainder of their free agency period could be about making moves on the edges.
