Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard of Indiana Pacers nominated for Eastern Conference Player of the Week

The Pacers went 3-1 last week

The NBA announced the winners for its Conference Player of the Week awards on Monday, and two Indiana Pacers players were among the nominees.

Both guard Andrew Nembhard and forward Pascal Siakam were finalists for the honor. In the end, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was the winner in the Eastern Conference. Antetokounmpo averaged nearly 30 points and 15 rebounds per game while also dishing out 8.3 assists.

The title was given to the player in each conference who had the best performances from January 22 through 28. The Pacers went 3-1 in that span, including impressive wins over the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers. In the West, Devin Booker was the winner. He scored 62 points against Indiana last week.

For Siakam, this nomination is impressive as this was his first full week with Indiana. His effectiveness skyrocketed after having one practice with the team, and he averaged 23 points, nine rebounds, and six assists per game during the week in question.

Siakam's developing frontcourt chemistry with Myles Turner has been significant for the Pacers, as has the forward's defense. He's been terrific for his new team and is a worthy finalist.

Nembhard was as well — he just wrapped up the best week of his season by far. Prior to this seven day stretch, the second-year guard had reached 15 points in a game just once this season, and he had five games with seven or more assists.

He reached those benchmarks in all four outings this past week, finishing with averages of 18 points and eight assists per game. It has been his best stretch of the campaign, and it was capped off with a great outing vs the Memphis Grizzlies. Nembhard was the Pacers only point guard that night, and he was fantastic.

It is the first time either player has been a finalist for Indiana this season, but they are both certainly worthy. The team had great results this week, and Nembhard and Siakam were big factors.

They will both look to keep up their impressive form on Tuesday night when the Pacers face the Boston Celtics on TNT.
