Tyrese Haliburton finalist for Eastern Conference Player of the Week for fifth-straight week, joined by Buddy Hield

Two Pacers guards were Player of the Week nominees this past week

Indiana Pacers guards Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton were both nominated for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award for games played last week.

It's Haliburton's fifth nomination of the season. He's been a finalist for the award every week of the season, but he has yet to take home the hardware. His excellent play has always been just behind the conference leader.

Hield, meanwhile, was named a finalist for the first time of the season. Hield, Haliburton, Aaron Nesmith, and Myles Turner have all been nominees in 2023-24, but no Pacers have earned the honor yet.

This past week, the hardware went to Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero. He averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game during the week while the Magic went 4-0. Devin Booker was the winner in the West.

The honor was given to the player in each conference who had the best performances in games between November 20 and 26. The Pacers went 2-1 in that span, with their one loss coming against the Toronto Raptors last Wednesday.

During that stretch, Haliburton averaged 32.0 points and 14.0 assists per game. He was brilliant in every way and made crucial plays all week long. It wasn't his fault Indiana wasn't able to go undefeated.

Hield, meanwhile, moved into the starting lineup last week and looked great in the role. He averaged 24.3 points per game while shooting 66.7% from long range during the three-game period. The new role helped Hield settle in offensively.

Indiana will try to have their first Player of the Week winner in the coming week, which begins tonight as the Pacers host the Portland Trail Blazers.
