According to a report from ESPN, the Indiana Pacers received the most receipts from the NBA's revenue sharing system during the 2021-22 season.

The report, penned by Adrian Wojnarowski, details the revenue sharing results from last season that were distributed to NBA organizations via a memo. 10 teams paid into the revenue sharing system while the other 20 franchises received money.

The Pacers were the team that netted the most from the revenue sharing system, according to Wojnarowski. Indiana received "the most in revenue sharing receipts — $42.2 million" according to the report.

Revenue sharing in the NBA is done so that the teams that contribute significantly to NBA revenue, and thus raise the salary cap, don't have a competitive advantage. Instead, franchises work within a system that tries to balance financial differences between big and small market teams.

Some of the revenue sharing money comes from luxury tax payments made by teams with expensive rosters, but not all of it. Teams that are close to the luxury tax line still prefer to get under it, though, so that they can receive some money from the tax paying teams at seasons end. The Pacers were not a tax paying team in 2021-22.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors paid the most into the revenue sharing system, according to the report. Those two teams are popular and in large markets, and they are both going to pay the luxury tax this season. The Pacers, once again, will not.
