Indiana Pacers announce 2023 Summer League roster

The Pacers begin Summer League play on July 8.

The Indiana Pacers announced their roster for 2023 Summer League play on Tuesday. They will play at least five games in Las Vegas starting on July 8.

The Pacers will have 14 players on the Summer League team. All four of the team's selections from the 2023 NBA Draft are on the roster, as well as a quartet of picks from the franchise's past drafts.

Indiana will begin a mini-camp with the team on Saturday, July 1. It will last through July 5. Development assistant Jannero Pargo will be the head coach for the group.

Indiana's summer league roster is listed below.

  • Eli Brooks
  • Kendall Brown
  • Isaiah Jackson
  • Mojave King
  • Nate Laszewski
  • Bennedict Mathurin
  • Darius McGhee
  • Andrew Nembhard
  • Ben Sheppard
  • Ethan Thompson
  • Oscar Tshiebwe
  • Jarace Walker
  • Isaiah Wong
  • Robert Woodard II

Mathurin and Nembhard were among the NBA's best rookies this past season. They shouldn't play more than a game or two in Vegas, but will have an opportunity to get a few reps with the Pacers new draftees. Many eyes will be on those two to see how much better they look than last season.

Walker and Sheppard, Indiana's two first-round picks from last week, will be making their debut for the team. Evaluating how they perform could be the biggest story of Summer League for Indiana. Wong and King, the team's second-round picks, will be noteworthy performers as well.

Isaiah Jackson, a first-round selection in 2021, will be playing in his third summer league. More opportunities will be valuable for the young center. His fellow 2021 draftee, Chris Duarte, is not on the roster. He had a strong rookie season but struggled in year two.

Tshiebwe will be on a two-way deal this season, so he has a role with the organization going forward. Brown, who was on a two-way deal last season after being selected 48th overall in 2022, could also be back on a similar deal with the team.

Two players who were in the Pacers organization last year are notably absent in Gabe York and Jermaine Samuels. Both played in Summer League for the blue and gold last season, and York finished the campaign on a two-way deal. Both will hunt for opportunities elsewhere.

It is the home of the league for about a week, and the exhibitions are the center of it. With several key players involved, the Pacers are a team to watch.
