The Detroit Pistons have just completed a trade with the Utah Jazz. Detroit will be sending Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee to Salt Lake City for the sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic. It appears to be a move we seldom see in the NBA involving solely players and no draft picks.

The 33 year-old had just completed his third season with the Jazz in a stint where he had started every single game he played in for Utah. In his time in the Beehive State, Bogdanovic proved to be an integral part of the Jazz success. After playing over 30 minutes per game, Bogdanovic put up a consistent 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, while shooting a solid 38.7% from behind the arc.

Bogdanovic will be heading into the final year of his 4 year, $73 million deal where the Pistons will be paying the Croatian $19.3 million this year. Detroit in turn, sheds the remainder of Kelly Olynyk’s contract, which included a $12.1 million team option for the 2023-24 season. Utah also acquires the 23 year old Saben Lee who had struggled to find playing time in the 313.

The news of this trade was first reported by Shams Charania and James Edwards III.
