The 1-0 Houston Rockets will continue their 2023 NBA Summer League tournament Sunday evening against the 1-0 Detroit Pistons inside the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Rockets will attempt to win their second consecutive game following a 100-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night. Jabari Smith Jr. led the way with 33 points and scored the game-winning basket with 0.6 left on the clock.

"My rookie year wasn’t perfect — it wasn’t great," Smith said. "Why not come out here and get reps, play with refs, play with my new teammates, play with my coaches, and get a feel? I feel like any second year guy should be open to play just because of the opportunity.

Rookie point guard Amen Thompson will miss the highly anticipated contest against the Pistons and his twin brother Ausar Thompson. Thompson suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain against the Trail Blazers and will miss the remainder of the Las Vegas Summer League tournament.

He finished the game with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, five assists, four blocks, four rebounds and three steals in 28 minutes.

The Pistons won their first Summer League opener on Saturday in an 89-79 win over the Orlando Magic. Jalen Duren notched a team-best 17 points and eight rebounds. James Wiseman recorded a double-double of 16 points and a dozen boards.
