The 3-0 Houston Rockets will continue their five-game preseason schedule Wednesday night against the 1-2 San Antonio Spurs. The game will mark the final of a two-game series in San Antonio.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich announced that Victor Wembanyama will return to the lineup to close their two-game preseason series against the Rockets. Wembanyama, who sat out during the Rockets' 99-89 victory Monday night, is averaging 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks.
"I am looking forward to it," Jabari Smith Jr. said. "After looking at all of the highlights and his games, it's extraordinary to see his abilities. You always want to play against a guy like him to see it for yourself."
In Game 1, the Rockets remained perfect after completing a 14-point comeback victory against the Spurs inside the Frost Bank Center.
Rookies Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore scored 15 points, respectively. Their performance helped ignite Houston's bench production, which finished the game accounting for 65 points.
"We were just out there playing hard and together," Thompson said. "The second group is the spark group when the first group isn't doing good...The game is getting slower from when I first got here. But every game, it is getting slower."
