Suns' Star Trio Already Off to Great Start

Phoenix Suns fans got their first taste of the new trio Sunday, and it went about as well as expected.

The Phoenix Suns ushered in a new era with a new-look team on Sunday with a win against the Detroit Pistons. Today, they make their debut in front of their home crowd when the Denver Nuggets come to town.

Among the biggest question marks that have carried into the preseason was how Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant would fit together. All three have high-scoring abilities, but how would function as a unit?

The Suns only have one preseason game under their belt. However, the chemistry that has been built between the big-three is already abundantly clear. The trio were nothing short of dominant in their initial dress rehearsal.

Beal set the tone early with a beautiful mid-range bucket. Durant and Booker continued their excellent rapport from last season with some amazing ball movement, and all three hit double figures scoring wise.

The Suns' trio was done for the day about halfway into the second quarter, but there was quite a bit to read into even after their days were done.

Booker, a Michigan native, has been a vocal supporter of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. Booker's courtside attire after his day was done consisted of a Miguel Cabrera jersey and Tigers hat. Durant also conspicuously was wearing a Tigers hat.

The observation may be unnecessary, but Suns fans should feel very good about the relationship the three players have. Durant and Booker have been friends for years, and that friendship has obviously extended to on the court, as the two mesh seamlessly when playing together.

Beal has also seemingly built a strong foundation with his fellow stars and it shows on the court, at least so far. The moral of the story is teams that are driven by star power can work, if the star power has good chemistry and play for the team before themselves.

Suns fans should have confidence that this group won't fall victim to the same things that consumed the LeBron James-Kyrie Irving partnership, collapsed the Brooklyn Nets trio, or broke apart the Kobe Bryant-Shaquille O'Neal dynasty.

This trio and team at large have potential to etch themselves into league history as NBA champions. The season must be played out before anything is set in stone, but one thing is for sure- the Suns are here to stay as a relevant NBA franchise and place star players want to be.
