He has spoken.

Brooklyn Nets forward (and potential Phoenix Suns target) Kevin Durant has let the rumors and whispers of his future in Brooklyn go on for too long.

Although he didn't address his situation specifically with the Nets, he did take to Twitter to let the world know reports of him retiring at the ripe age of 33-years-old simply weren't true.

This comes after this report from NBA insider Marc Stein today:

“During summer league in Las Vegas, one of the most well-connected team executives I speak to regularly insisted to me that, based on what he was hearing, Kevin Durant was more apt to retire than play again for the Brooklyn Nets," said Stein in a recent report.

"This was in early July.”

Of course, things haven't been crystal clear with Durant since requesting a trade on June 30. He reportedly held a meeting with Nets owner Joe Tsai and demanded to leave town if general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash were still there.

Tsai would go on to tweet his support for his staff/front office members.

The Durant saga is sure to take a few more turns before we arrive at our final destination. Yet for the first time in the entire process, we have a clearer picture of what Durant ultimately thinks.

That's to play basketball. Durant has four years left on his contract.

Many people believe he'll begin the season in Brooklyn, but is likely to be traded at some point in the season (if not before).
