Jae Crowder, Suns Mutually Agree on Training Camp Absence

The two sides mutually agreed on Crowder's absence while the Phoenix Suns work on a trade for the power forward.

On Sunday, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported the Phoenix Suns and forward Jae Crowder have mutually agreed on his absence at the team's upcoming training camp while they work on a trade.

Shortly after, the Suns released this official statement:

Short and sweet.

It's been quite the offseason for Phoenix and Crowder, as various speculation has persisted in the NBA atmosphere that the power forward would be dealt at some point.

Crowder tweeted this out earlier in the offseason:

Crowder also recently deleted a tweet saying he wouldn't be at Suns training camp, which begins Tuesday. The team has their media day tomorrow on Monday.

Crowder has been sly in his social media presence, pinning an instagram comment suggesting the Heat try to get him back on the roster. He played for Miami in 2020 and helped them reach the NBA Finals.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald offered this on those rumors:

"We hear Jae Crowder would welcome a return to the Heat and ESPN's Brian Windhorst—while not mentioning the Heat or any team—said the Phoenix Suns are 'in trade negotiations right now. A lot of them are centered around Crowder. Crowder is a player who is available on the market right now.'"

The Suns have reportedly included Crowder as the main part of a trade package in their conversations, and now it appears imminent that he will be moved.
