At this point, your guess is as good as anybody's when it comes to what the future will hold with Chris Paul.

The Suns currently have a June 28 deadline to waive Paul, who is set to make $30.8 million for the 2023-24 season. After June 28, that figure becomes fully guaranteed - but Phoenix would only be on the hook for $15.8 million if he was waived before.

The Suns have contemplated finding a new point guard since midseason, when NBA insider Shams Charania reported Phoenix tried to acquire Kyrie Irving, even maintaining interest in him after he landed with the Dallas Mavericks

Paul - in his late thirties and very much on the downswing of his career - now finds his future in the Valley under heavy scrutiny. NBA on TNT reporter Chris Haynes reported the Suns had waived Paul last week before others said the team hadn't made a final decision.

However the cookie crumbles, changes are sure to be made when it comes to Paul, who very likely won't be returning on his $30.8 million price tag if he stays in Phoenix.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski says the Suns have received trade calls on Paul.

"It spurred on a flurry of trade talk and trade calls to Phoenix centered around Chris Paul," said Woj, who also pointed to teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors who could go after Paul if he hits the open market.
