Cam Johnson 'Super Eager' to Return for Suns

In this story:
Phoenix Suns forward Cam Johnson hasn't played in an NBA game since tearing his meniscus on Nov. 4.
Since then, the Suns have looked like a drastically different team. Phoenix is under .500 thanks to a strong mixture of injuries and inconsistent play. As of now, they're at the bottom of the playoff picture with the No. 10 seed in the West.
Plenty of time remains, and the Suns are banking on the arrival of players such as Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Johnson among others to help get Phoenix back on track.
In an interview with the Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin, Johnson says he's eager to return.
“Super eager. Super eager," he said. "When you’re out for a little bit of time and you know you’re going to be out a little bit of time, you gain a much deeper appreciation for what you do. That’s kind of a silver lining about it. This is something that you know that you value so much that is taken away from you for a certain amount of weeks, you cherish it a little bit more.”
Things haven't exactly been stellar for the Suns as of late. They've won just two of their last ten games and have struggled to maintain the form that once saw them atop the conference standings.
Missing three-of-five starters will do that, though. Johnson says he's enjoyed the team's pace of play in recent weeks.
“I see the pace that they’re playing with. The pace that they’re playing with and the way they’re sharing the ball and playing in that Point-5 that we talk about. That’s something that I’m looking forward to jumping in and getting in there with them doing that," said Johnson.
Phoenix finishes their road trip with a game in Memphis on Monday before returning home for a five-game stay at the Footprint Center, which begins with Brooklyn on Thursday.
Could we see Johnson on the court? He says he doesn't have a target date of return.
“Not anything firm right now. Just sometime when I get back from the trip, but I feel pretty good. Taking it one day at a time right now, but I’m looking forward to getting back soon, very soon," Johnson said.
