The Phoenix Suns season could be best described as a roller coaster ride.

The Suns had a strong start to the season holding a 15-6 record by the end of November and sat as the top seed in the Western Conference.

In December, everything went downhill for Phoenix. From Dec. 20 to Jan. 16, the Suns only won two games and went 2-12 during that span. Phoenix found themselves out of both the playoff picture as the twelve seed with a below .500 record of 21-23.

After that miserable stretch, the Suns found a way to claw their way back. In Phoenix’s next 21 games from Jan. 19 to Mar. 8, the Suns went 16-5 and propelled their way all the way to the four seed with a record of 37-29.

Since Mar. 8, Phoenix has held the four seed in the West for practically the entire time, continuing to thrive as a team. They are currently on a seven-game winning streak with no signs of slowing down as the end of the regular season approaches.

Despite a strong end to the season, Chris Paul knows the Suns could still get even better.

“We gonna see,” Paul said. “We can always get better. I think for us, we set such a high bar for ourselves. We expect so much from ourselves, so when we have those lulls regardless of if it is our first game together, second game together, we expect greatness from each other. So we just have to keep getting better.”

Phoenix went through everything possibly imaginable this year weather it was dealing with injuries  that affected nearly the entire lineup to trading for one of the best talents the NBA has ever seen in Kevin Durant.

The focus now shifts to the postseason, where the Suns have nearly captured their first franchise championship but have fallen short in the last two years.

Now that everybody is fully healthy, Phoenix coach Monty Williams hopes to fine-tune his team ahead of a rigorous playoff slate in the Western Conference.

“There are always things on both sides that you can improve. Defensively, we have already tried to focus on the transition part and there are still some communication levels that we can get to because we do crash a couple of guys. Those guys are always focused on getting an extra possession," he said.

"At the same time, we have to get back and identify where the shooter is and last guy go weakside, all of that stuff. That is probably something that is high level for us. The rebounding thing on both ends is something we try and push every time we step on the floor. There is other stuff, but we would be here all day talking about that.”

In the playoffs, it's extremely important to be consistent as a team. That has not been Phoenix’s motto necessarily this season but they will need to be able to string good basketball at a consistent level If they are to go on a deep run and potentially win the championship.

The Suns battle the Los Angeles Lakers tonight before returning home to host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. The NBA playoffs are set to begin on April 15.
