Gambo: Suns to Pursue Power Forward

After missing out on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, the Phoenix Suns now look elsewhere to add talent to their roster.

The "Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns" train has now come and gone after reports of the superstar and the Brooklyn Nets hashing it out and moving forward together officially put an end to hope of the Valley welcoming KD to town.

It might be a bit sad for Suns fans considering Durant specifically made it known of his desires to play in Phoenix, previously having high remarks for the city, Monty Williams and Devin Booker.

Yet the Nets were able to weather the storm and keep both Durant and Kyrie Irving from jumping ship in hopes of making good on their roster to win it all next season.

As for the Suns, Phoenix will keep their same group of players that have successfully made an NBA Finals appearance while also winning 64 games the next season. A championship hasn't been brought home, yet few teams are able to say they've played great basketball like Phoenix has in the last two years.

For as great as the Suns have been, the roster still needs some tweaks. Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro says the team is now in search of a post-up power forward:

The Suns currently have a few options at power forward, yet none fit the mold of what Gambo says Phoenix is looking for.

If Jae Crowder even remains with the team after apparently making his desire to play elsewhere known, he's more of a shooter than posting up. Same with Cameron Johnson, and same with Dario Saric. Both options being athletic with a nice shooting touch, but none potentially able to handle big man duties down low near the rim with the big boys.

Like Gambo pointed out, Phoenix can use one of two exceptions (grants to sign players essentially).

The non-taypayer mid-level exception is worth $10.49 million, while the bi-annual exception is worth just $4.1 million according to Spotrac.
