76ers Probed Suns for Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker at Trade Deadline

PHOENIX -- Just how desperate were the Philadelphia 76ers at the NBA trade deadline?

They inquired on the status of Phoenix Suns stars Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker.

From ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski this morning:

"After seeing [LeBron] James' cryptic social media post of an hourglass a week before the trade deadline, Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey called [Rob] Pelinka to probe on a James trade and was immediately told that James wasn't available. In fact, Pelinka responded by asking Morey if Joel Embiid was available, sources said. And that ended that brief conversation.

"These sorts of bold trade calls are historically a common practice for Morey, who also called the Phoenix Suns and asked about a trade for Durant prior to the deadline, sources said. When told no, Morey then asked about the availability of Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, too. Unsurprisingly, those were rebuffed as well, sources said."

That wasn't the only crazy piece of information Wojnarowski dropped in his report:

"The Golden State Warriors made an unsuccessful bid to convince the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James to consider a trade to pair him with longtime rival Stephen Curry, sources told ESPN.

"The Warriors were eager to present a package deal to L.A., but neither the Lakers nor James were willing to explore a potential blockbuster. Even at 39 years old, James is still playing at an All-NBA level that stirred the Warriors' imagination about his ability to extend the window of the franchise's fading dynasty."

Phoenix trading any of their three stars would be quite the far-fetched scenario, at least this early in the process after Booker has cemented himself as a franchise legend and one of the league's best scorers - along with Durant and Beal's recent arrivals as well.

The Suns - who have won their last 13-of-17 games - are confident they can bring a franchise-first NBA Finals title home.
