Suns Forward Kevin Durant Offers Unpopular Take on Grizzlies' Dillion Brooks

He may ruffle many feathers in the NBA but Phoenix Suns' Kevin Durant has come to respect Dillon Brooks

Memphis Grizzlies SF Dillon Brooks ruffles the feathers of many in the NBA.

For Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant however, he has come to respect Brooks and what he brings to the court each and every night.

“We’ve seen so many players in the history of the game that we all love for doing the same stuff… I can respect that he’s bringing that energy to the game every time he plays. It’s not no front with him.”

“I think Dillon Brooks has really took advantage of the opportunity he has playing with a young team, having so much responsibility as a young player, being able to guard some of the best players so you gotta have some type of, I don’t want to call it crazy for a lack of a better term but you gotta muster up something for you to do that every single night to be asked to guard the best players every single night and also be an integral part of the offense so sometimes he takes it too far but its just about the role he has to play for his team.” Durant said on his podcast.

We have seen many players praised for their trash talking ways throughout NBA history but Brooks is typically shunned for it - another point Durant brought up in his podcast.

“We’ve seen so many players in the history of the game that we all love for doing the same stuff… I can respect that he’s bringing that energy to the game every time he plays. It’s not no front with him,” Durant said.

Brooks has been feuding with Durant’s former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green. Both have exchanged comments on each other since the Warriors-Grizzlies series during last year's playoffs.

Durant's comments come as a shock as he is one of the first players of this high caliber to really publicly praise Brooks in that light. 

Memphis could very well see the Suns in the Western Conference postseason, so it would be interesting to see how Durant responds to Brooks' trash talk.
