In the past, the Oklahoma City Thunder would often draft players with low floors, high ceilings and incredible athleticism.

Arkansas’ Jordan Walsh is an athletic monster and fits the old mold of a Thunder draft prospect, while simultaneously fitting the new OKC mold, too.

Picking in the second round with picks No. 37 and 50, the Thunder will have two chances to hit this year. Part of “hitting” on a second round pick will include drafting a player that can develop and grow within the team’s system and a player willing to do whatever it takes to reach his potential.

Walsh checks both of those boxes. At 6-foot-7, with a whopping 7-foot-3 wingspan, Walsh is versatile enough to fit into the Thunder’s system and grow as a player. Given his shooting form, there is potential for consistent shooting for Walsh, and he can use his physical tools to contribute elsewhere offensively.

Also, Walsh is a workhorse. He makes winning plays, which helps players get on the court for their teams. The Thunder have proven this, as Isaiah Joe climbed the ranks and made the rotation by providing what the Thunder needed whilst making consistent winning plays.

Because of his effort, Walsh is an incredible defender. The mix of athleticism, size and effort, Walsh has an incredible ceiling on the defensive side of the floor, as well as tools to become a serviceable offensive player. Within the Thunder’s system, the former five star prospect would be able to maximize his potential early and play his way into a long career.

There’s potential that Walsh could provide great value for the Thunder at pick no. 50. They similarly drafted Aaron Wiggins at pick no. 55 in the 2021 NBA Draft, and he’s been an incredible, winning player and has brought more than enough value for the position in which he was picked.

Not to mention, the Thunder have liked Arkansas products in the past, bringing both Jaylin Williams and Isaiah Joe on to the squad.
