FIBA 2023: What Thunder Members are Playing?

In this story:
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be well represented at FIBA 2023.
Of course, two Thunder starters will be competing with Team Canada, those being Lu Dort and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The two players have a deep Canadian history and are well known in the Thunder community to have that connection with their country, so it's no surprise they're representing their country.
Team Canada will travel and meet up on July 31, with their training camp taking place during the Aug. 1 through Aug. 6 time frame. They then begin a few preliminary games ahead of the World Cup play beginning on Aug. 25.
The Thunder has six total guys playing in the competition this summer. Aside from Gilgeous-Alexander and Dort, here are the other competitors:
- Josh Giddey, Australia
- Jack White, Australia
- Davis Bertans, Latvia
- Vasilije Micic, Serbia
Three of the Thunder's FIBA rostered players are newcomers to the team, those being White, Bertans and Micic. Giddey and White were teammates in the NBL, so that'll be a duo to keep an eye on this summer.
These guys will each get to spend the World Cup honing their skill and playing against good competition to get prepared ahead of the Thunder's training game.
One thing evident with these rosters is that the rest of the world is catching up to the United States when it comes to producing basketball talent. The Thunder don't have a player representing the United States, yet a few key, young players are representing their country.
Of course, it's a small sample size, and the argument is still close. The United States haven't been sending their top tier talent, but even then, the rest of the world has seemingly caught up, and this can be seen at younger levels of international competition.
Thunder fans will be spoiled to have a variety of players playing on different teams, and also have the opportunity to watch Thunder teammates represent their countries together.
