NBA Trade Talk: Could Oklahoma City Land a Warriors Cornerstone?

Would Golden State consider splitting up its core and trade Draymond Green?

For any franchise, there's a cyclic nature to how the team performs. The Golden State Warriors have been one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history over the past decade or so, but that could be coming to an end. While there's still plenty of time to turn the season around, Golden State is below .500 at 13-14.

It's very likely that the team would look to make moves in effort to remain competitive rather than rebuild if change is coming, especially given Steph Curry is one of the best players in the world. If that is the case, could Draymond Green be on the trade block?

He currently isn't playing as he works on himself personally off the before returning to action, but is still a good player. Especially on the defensive end, he's one of the best to ever do it.

While he has a history of being a villain to Thunder fans, Green could be the perfect fit for this young OKC squad. Next to Chet Holmgren in the frontcourt as a strong running mate, this could form one of the best defensive duos in the NBA.

The asking price would likely be high, but if the Thunder continue to be one of the best teams in the league, perhaps making this type of move would be beneficial in the short and long term.

The one thing to consider would be what the Warriors get in return, as they'll request a player that's able to compete now, or picks to use in a secondary trade. There has been no indication that Golden State is looking to move on from Green, but in the event the Warriors would be open to it, the Thunder would make a lot of sense.

It would be the end of an era with him parting ways with Curry and Klay Thompson, but every team has to make change at some point.
