Upcoming Wizards Community Efforts

The Washington Wizards continue to make a lasting impact in their local community. This week they have their annual Sports Career Day and Hoops for Troops All Star Challenge.

On Friday, February 24, middle school and high school students, teachers, administrators and chaperones with an interest in learning more about working in professional sports will get to learn from members of the Wizards management team. The annual event will include a sports business breakout panel session from 1:15-2:30 p.m. with Wizards Senior leadership. Those in attendance will also have the option of attending a college fair. Following the day’s activities, students will get to watch the Wizards take on the New York Knicks in their return from All Star break.

On Saturday, February 25 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm the team will host the “Hoops for Troops All-Star Challenge” presented by Comcast Government Services, LLC at Fort Belvoir, VA.

As part of the Wizards’ continued effort to recognize, honor and celebrate members of the military community, the team will host an NBA All-Star weekend-inspired event with a skills competition, three-point contest and “All-Star” game.

The “All-Star” game will be coached by Wizards alumni Michael Adams and Harvey Grant. Adams and Grant will also participate in one of the skills competitions.

Wizards in-game personality Britt Waters, along with the Wizards Dancers and DJ Heat will entertain military personnel and their families. Those in attendance will have the chance to win Wizards branded items, and a t-shirt toss will take place during the “All-Star” game.

Those participating in the event will receive tickets to an upcoming Wizards game and attendees will earn a discounted ticket offer to an upcoming game in the month of March.
