The Washington Wizards kept it within three points at halftime but couldn’t keep pace with the Brooklyn Nets, falling to them 124-97 at the Barclays Center.

Washington Wizards forward Deni Avdija had an impressive start to tonight’s contest against the Brooklyn Nets. Avdija went into halftime with 11 points, two assists, and one block at the half.

Avdija’s additional stats at the half are below:

Avdija would ultimately finish the game with 15 points (6-9), seven rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and one steal.

Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma closed the night as Washington’s top scorer, finishing with a team high 17 points on 8-of-7 shooting, three rebounds, and two assists. Kuzma has now scored in double figures in 22 consecutive games dating back to March 18, 2023.

Despite the loss, the highlight of the night is rookie Bilal Coulibaly recording the first double double of his career scoring 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and adding a career best ten rebounds. Coulibaly also contributed with two assists.

The Nets kept the Wizards to just 19 assists on the night and applied pressure resulting in 15 turnovers. The Wizards had a terrible night from three-point range, shooting at only 18%.

It was obvious the Nets watched film on Wizards forward Corey Kispert, keeping him contained defensively without an opportunity for him to get going at all tonight. The Wizards second chance points only totaled seven to the Nets 20 and points in the paint stalled at 56 to the Nets 76.

Next up for the Wizards is yet another visit to the City of Brotherly Love to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, December 11 at 7:00pm EST.
