Washington Wizards Cap Historically Bad Month With Close Loss to Los Angeles Lakers

Washington Wizards join list of 15 teams that have winless calendar month's.

It has been a rough season overall for the Washington Wizards as they now sit at a 9-51 record which is the worst in the NBA.

But what the Wizards pulled off in February was a feat only 14 teams did before them.

Every team they played in February had a winning percentage over .500, which is an extremely tough stretch for any team.

Heading into the last game of the month against the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington was 0-11 in February and on a 12-game losing streak overall but had a chance to erase all that with a victory and not be remembered for one of the worst months ever.

The Wizards came out and truly battled the Lakers until the buzzer behind an incredible scoring effort from Washington guard Jordan Poole.

It ended up not being enough in the end as the Wizards lost in overtime 134-131 behind 40 points from Los Angeles center Anthony Davis.

This loss capped the first time in franchise history that Washington had gone an entire calendar month without a single win, and the 15th team to do so in NBA history.

They also joined another team that didn't win a game in February, the Portland Trail Blazers who went 0-9.

This was only the third time in NBA history two teams went winless in the same month.

That is a lot of history that the Wizards ended up on the wrong side of, adding to this already historically bad season.

Good news though, Washington will finally see some breaks soon and have opportunities to play teams that aren't juggernauts and stop their now 14-game losing streak before it gets really out of hand.
