Both Alex Smith and Matt Leinart made turnovers that led to touchdowns in a defense-dominated first half. Smith finished 15-of-31 for 126 yards -- 60 on the final drive, while Leinart was 14-of-28 for 102 yards with two interceptions and a 5-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin.
Bengals 27, Ravens 20
Ravens tight end Todd Heap watches Bengals lineman Michael Myers make a diving interception on a pass from Kyle Boller that had bounced off Heap's shoulder with 1:13 to go. Steve McNair, out with a strained groin late in the game, had a hand in four of the Ravens' six turnovers.
Cowboys 45, Giants 35
Tony Romo threw for a career-high 345 yards and four touchdowns, plus ran for another score, as the Cowboys defeated the Giants with both teams producing the most points in the 90-game history of the series. Terrell Owens scored twice, including a diving one-hander to open the second half.

While the Bears managed to hold LaDainian Tomlinson to 25 yards on 17 carries, they were unable to contain Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who had 107 yards on nine catches. Gates caught a 17-yard TD pass from Tomlinson with 45 seconds left in the third quarter.

Chris Brown ran for a career-high 175 yards, more than he had all last season.
Patriots 38, Jets 14
Randy Moss, left, caught nine passes from Tom Brady for 183 yards and a touchdown in his New England debut. Another Patriot, Ellis Hobbs, right, set an NFL record by taking the second-half kickoff 108 yards for a score.

Rookie Mason Crosby hit a 42-yard field goal with two seconds left, the highlight of a win that featured strong special teams and defense by the Packers.

Ben Roethlisberger threw a career-high four touchdown passes as Pittsburgh built an early 17-0 lead against the Browns.

Rookie running back Adrian Peterson ran for 103 yards in a troubling season opener for the Falcons.

Linebacker Lofa Tatupu led Seattle's hard-hitting defense with eight tackles, including a collision with Carnell "Cadillac" Williams that sent the Bucs running back to the locker room with a rib injury.
Lions 36, Raiders 21
Jon Kitna finished 27-for-36 for 289 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Five of his receivers had at least four receptions.
Redskins 16, Dolphins 13, OT
Antwaan Randle El was the game's most dynamic player. His 35-yard catch set up a second-quarter field goal, and his 49-yard snag set up a 19-yard run by Portis for a 10-7 lead in the third quarter.

Matt Schaub found Andre Johnson up the middle for a 77-yard touchdown reception that was the longest of Johnson's career.
Broncos 15, Bills 14
Jason Elam and the Broncos field goal unit scrambled onto the field to convert a 42-yard attempt just as time ran out, lifting Denver past the stunned and injury-depleted Bills.
Panthers 27, Rams 13
Steve Smith out-sprinted Rams cornerback Tye Hill on a 68-yard catch for the go-ahead play in Carolina's victory. As Smith eased into the end zone, Hill could only watch as he stumbled and then slid on his stomach for several yards.
Colts 40, Saints 10
Playing against his hometown team, Payton Manning threw three touchdown passes, but the story of the day was a Colts defense that shut down Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and the explosive New Orleans offense.
