An abbreviated look at what’s going on around the NFL on Tuesday, Aug. 30:

• Baltimore's trade for wide receiver Lee Evans took a little pressure off rookie Torrey Smith. And while the Ravens still would like to see Smith step up a bit, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron says everyone just needs to be patient.

• 2011 second-round draft pick Stefen Wisniewski looked like he'd be the Raiders' starting center after being selected in April. Instead, it's a near certainty that he heads into the regular season as the starting left guard.

• He's had a difficult preseason, but rookie Jason Kelce will be the Eagles' starting center when Week 1 rolls around. Kelce beat out veteran Jamaal Jackson for the position.

• Wide receiver Kevin Curtis, now fully healthy after battling cancer, is back in the NFL and fighting for playing time in Tennessee.

• The Saints suddenly find themselves in need of a kicker, and it looks like longtime NFL veteran John Kasay could be their guy.

• With Byron Leftwich out for an extended period of time due to an arm injury, Charlie Batch is again the Steelers' backup quarterback. The only problem is that Batch has seen barely any reps with Pittsburgh's first-team offense in camp.
